Bake Adder

Thankfully, I saw on the Doctor Who community a listing of the top-rated shows in the UK from Christmas, and noted two things which I'd really like to see, early enough to be able to, uh, see them.

One was the first new Wallace & Gromit short film in more than a decade, called A Matter of Loaf & Death. There were some good laughs in there. Lots of dog puns on Gromit's record album collection...

The other was a documentary, Blackadder Rides Again, discussing the history of the Black Adder franchise with those who made it. (The series is 25 years old now.) This included actors Rowan Atkinson, Tony Robinson, Hugh Laurie, Stephen Fry, Tim McInnerny, Miranda Richardson, Miriam Margolyes, Rik Mayall, and writers Richard Curtis, Ben Elton, John Lloyd... and one or two other people I can't remember. Some great stories and video from behind the scenes -- they even shipped a pair of comedy breasts to Fry's location (at the time of filming) in Madagascar for him to wear!

Hopefully both will make their way to U.S. television. Certainly Wallace & Gromit will, at least.

On Saturday, seen on several highway signs:

Uhhh... how about don't text while driving, like, NOW?

It stems from a stupidly necessary law. Because California banned talking on celphones while driving this year, Californians decided if they can't talk, they'll just do the considerably more dangerous act of sending text messages with their celphones. So next year, that becomes illegal too. But the sign is stupid for putting it up like a reminder, as if to say, "But for now, text all you want! Who cares if you kill a bunch of people?"
