Oh yeah, another cool thing...

Something else cool happened recently. We (µcPros) got a resupply of products that we sell. They originate from Bulgaria. On the package was a sticker with "Транжит" written on it. It took less than a second for me to read "Transit".

Yay! I never have studied a Cyrillic-based language, but somehow I've picked up much of the alphabet! That started back in the '80s when KTEH would show the Soviet nightly news program, Время. I knew that was "Vremya" so figured out those letters, then when they covered sports, the graphic read "Спорт" so I figured out those letters, and they've stuck with me all this time!

I'm reminded now of a couple years ago when I was having lunch near the computer store, which is in a Korean neighborhood, and I started to pick up on how to read Hangul by comparing multiple store signs and their English names. Of course, Hangul was invented to be an easy writing system to learn, so maybe that doesn't count for much...
